Resume Writing-Tips Getting You Started Writing the Winning Resume!

from:

Drafting and writing an effective resume can be a solitary process. You may be overlooking a great method of presentation without even knowing it. Or in the drafting stage you may ignore achievements that if presented properly would vault your resume to the top of the applicant stack.

Since drafting and writing a resume is not something we do everyday it’s clear we need help and help from a variety of sources so we can evaluate what is best for us. Some of the help is free and some you may pay for, but help is available. The internet option is often the best and the least expensive option.

When you go online you’ll find a variety of sites providing you with help writing different types of resumes. If you have a number of years of work in a career you may need help in formatting or specific language in your resume. Viewing various samples of resumes relating to your career may provide you the help needed. Of course it is important not to directly copy the phrases and language used in the sample but rather use them as guidance in writing your own resume.

Sample resumes are also a good source of assistance and ideas on format, section headings and the overall look of a winning resume.

If you are writing your first resume and have limited work experience there are many college websites and job center web sites that will give you guidance about what to include and what to leave out of your resume. If you have limited work experience or are just graduating the tendency is to include everything in the resume resulting in a document that is too long, cluttered and a problem to read through. Many schools and colleges have resume writing seminars and workshop that would be productive to attend. Also, the schools career center or guidance counselors have abundant resources that you can access.

If you still feel the need for professional help writing a resume there are a variety of online professional resume writing services that will develop, change, modify and correct your resume until it is eye catching, informative and very unique and individualized. These services typically charge a flat rate based on the type of resume and the salary expectations for the professional. Most professional resume services charge less than three hundred dollars for even the most in-depth professional resume, and significantly less for resumes for other careers and jobs.

This type of service is certainly ideal if you’re looking for help writing a resume that may result in a higher paying job and even better opportunities for the all important interview.

Effective resume writing, although an individual experience, can be markedly improved by taking advantage of the resources available.
